The English Referees’ Association has terminated the contract of controversial referee David Coote.

On December 9, the Premier League Match Officials’ Association (PGMOL) voted to remove 42-year-old David Coote from his role as a Premier League referee after conducting a thorough investigation into his misconduct.

Coot has been suspended by the PGMOL since November 11. After a video emerged online of him talking to a friend making negative comments about Liverpool and his former manager Jurgen Klopp. After refereeing a game between the Reds and Burnley in July 2020. During which he was criticised by Klopp for his late refereeing.

Two days later, The Sun, a British tabloid. Published a photo of Coutinho inhaling a white powder that was believed to be a drug. The photo was taken at the same time as the Euro 2024 football match. In which he was selected to referee.

Later in late November, “The Sun” revealed more that Coote had chatted with a friend. Before refereeing a game between Leeds United and West Brom in 2019. With a friend saying something like he was going to place a bet that a Leeds player would get a yellow card in the ทางเข้า ufabet game, and later that player really did get a yellow card. So Coote chatted with his friend after the game to ask if he had placed a bet or not.

After the ongoing scandals, Kut issued a statement saying that no matter what his personal behavior was, he insisted that these matters had no effect on his duties as a referee. And that he would continue to adhere to the honest and fair work that he had promised.

PGMOL said Coutinho’s behaviour was a serious breach of his employment contract. However, the organisation will continue to support and look. After Coutinho’s welfare, and he has a legal right to appeal the termination of his employment contract.
